    How to make your own rainforest

The materials you need are:

Some small gravels

Some charcoal

A fish tank

Tap water

Compost

Tropical plants

Potting soil

Here’s how to make your own rainforest:

Put some charcoal in the fish tank. And spread it around and do the same thing with the potting soil. And the gravels then we put the plants into the fish tank. And added some more soil. Then we put the soil together with the plants to make the plants stand up. Then we water the plants. And that’s how you make your own rainforest.

In Auckland 40% of the land is supposed to be covered by trees. But in 2012 the statistics said that there was only 23.8% of land covered in trees.

So that means we have to plant more trees.

Tree are important because they suck up carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. Trees make food for us. Trees can stop global warming. They also provide wood for us to make houses,furniture and paper. They provide us cotton wool to make clothes too.

But if we cut more trees to make houses. There will be no oxygen and no one will survive. That’s why we have to plant more trees so we can have a balanced environment and everybody will live.

book report-wacko kakapo

Today I read a book called wacko kakapo by Yvonne Morrison.

This book is about a kea called wacko kakapo  the sky was falling so wacko kakapo and his friends went to look for tane mahuta. But on the way to tane mahuta the animals got captured by a stoat. But they manage to escape from the stoat. After that they all went to wacko kakapo and had a great party.

Today I read a book called Degas and the little dancer

This book is about a little dancer name Marie. Her dream was to be the best ballerina ever. But her parents were poor and did not have enough money. So her dad was a tailor and her mom work at the laundry. They saved money for her to go to dancing class. But there was an old man called Degas who was a painter he painted lots of picture of Marie. And he made a sculpture her. And she became the best dancer ever.

I like this book because it is interesting.A new word I

This is my recount on Athletics day after receiving feedback from my peers.

“Run” said my mum. My mum cheering for me while I was running. I ran as fast as I can and came 3rd to last. My mum was proud of me. I was so happy. We had to race again. So Mr Areein said “on your marks get set GO!”.

I ran as fast as I can and came 3rd to last again. After racing I went back to my tent. It was finally for the 400m race. My name was not called out for the 400m race so I was just sitting inside the tent. But Havea was in the finals so I cheered for him. He came 2nd In the race.

I was so happy. After the finals we sang our chant to the parents. After that athletics was finish. It was the Athletics ever.

Guy fawkes day

“Agrh, what is that sound?”. I could not take it so I opened the curtains and saw fireworks blazing into the sky. When the fireworks popped they made a sound like this BOOM! It was very loud but I did not care. I remembered that the fireworks where for this celebration called Guy Fawkes day. I remember celebrating Guy fawkes it was very fun. Since that celebration is cool ill ask my mum for fireworks. So I went and told mum but sadly she said that she does not have enough money to buy any. I was very disappointed but I still saw fireworks shooting into the sky which made me feel better.after that I went and went to sleep ready for school tomorrow.
