Te tuhi

Yesterday room 6 went to te tuhi it was at pakuranga.It had lot’s of art made by famous artist that live in new zealand.We made tapa cloths at Te Tuhi.The tongan tapa cloth is called Ngatu.And the samoan tapa cloth is called siapo.the fijian tapa cloth is called masi.Their was a person who was our tour guide her name was salome her culture is tongan and samoan she is very good artist.First we went to the art place to do our tapa cloths when we went inside the art place we were wearing black coats so the paint does not go on our uniform.Salome showed us some of the tapa cloths that were made in the pacific islands.Salome put one tapa cloth on each table.We touched the tapa cloth our tapa cloth was soft and it had black dye on the back it was made in samoa.after we touch it we swapped tapa cloths with other tapa cloths.Then we touch the tapa cloths that we swapped it felt hard.The tapa cloth was orange we saw that we could see some brown and black dye. this tapa cloth was made in tonga.After we touch the tapa cloths we went to do a tapa cloth.first get a piece of paper then scrunch it up then open the scrunched paper then colour the 2 squares with a brown crayon smoothly then colour the background with a brown crayon then draw your pictures about your culture with a art pencil.Then paint the other 2 squares with the black dye.After that you let it dry after we done the art we went to look at the art that were made by famous artist.after that it was time to go back to school.
