                          Trees for survival

In Auckland 40% of the land is supposed to be covered by trees. But in 2012 the statistics said that there was only 23.8% of land covered in trees.

So that means we have to plant more trees.

Tree are important because they suck up carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. Trees make food for us. Trees can stop global warming. They also provide wood for us to make houses,furniture and paper. They provide us cotton wool to make clothes too.

But if we cut more trees to make houses. There will be no oxygen and no one will survive. That’s why we have to plant more trees so we can have a balanced environment and everybody will live.

Dear Santa Claus,

Thank you very much for buying me a skateboard and a helmet and water bottle. I was very shocked when I got my present it felt like I was in heaven.I was very grateful for what you got for me. And I am very pleased. Thank you for your kindness. Thank you Santa Claus. Merry christmas and have a happy new year.

Athletics

                   Athletics day-number 2

This is my recount on Athletics day after receiving feedback from my peers.

“Run” said my mum. My mum cheering for me while I was running. I ran as fast as I can and came 3rd to last. My mum was proud of me. I was so happy. We had to race again. So Mr Areein said “on your marks get set GO!”.

I ran as fast as I can and came 3rd to last again. After racing I went back to my tent. It was finally for the 400m race. My name was not called out for the 400m race so I was just sitting inside the tent. But Havea was in the finals so I cheered for him. He came 2nd In the race.

I was so happy. After the finals we sang our chant to the parents. After that athletics was finish. It was the Athletics ever.

but it was so cold that I would turn into a block of ice. And be zapped by the storm.

Guy fawkes day

“Agrh, what is that sound?”. I could not take it so I opened the curtains and saw fireworks blazing into the sky. When the fireworks popped they made a sound like this BOOM! It was very loud but I did not care. I remembered that the fireworks where for this celebration called Guy Fawkes day. I remember celebrating Guy fawkes it was very fun. Since that celebration is cool ill ask my mum for fireworks. So I went and told mum but sadly she said that she does not have enough money to buy any. I was very disappointed but I still saw fireworks shooting into the sky which made me feel better.after that I went and went to sleep ready for school tomorrow.

Recount-going to Tonga

In the holidays,me and family went to Tonga to see my grandpa. We had this big container full of clothes because there was a fair happening at vava’u. So we sold clothes to the people in Tonga.

When my Aunty was looking after the shop I went and looked for a food shop because I was very hungry.

Then I finally found a food shop. But right after I buyed my pie I recognise that I was LOST!. I did not know where my Aunty shop was so I asked someone if they knowed where my Aunty shop was. But when the fair was finished I could not find my mum or dad so I started to crying.

But when everyone was gone my mum saw me and then I ran up to her and said “i'm sorry mum” mum said “it’s alright but don’t run away like that okay” okay. After that me and my mum walked all the way home.

On Monday Tamaki Primary had swimming lessons at the Panmure Lagoon pools in East Auckland. Our instructor for swimming was a girl her name is Kat and there was another group and their instructor is a boy and his name is Owen.

We were very excited when we got to the pools we walk inside and change into our togs. After that we waited until the other class finished their lesson when there lesson was finished kat told us to jump into the pool . We started by doing streamlines in the pool and then we did some freestyles to the platform. It was very fun. Then we did a challenge we went to the far side and we had to try not touch the ground for 30 seconds. It was very easy for me. After that we had to freestyle all the way back and then try not to touch the floor again then we freestyled back to the platform.

After we finish that the lesson was finished so we swam out of the pools and got our plastic bags and went to the changing rooms. We saw silly people in the changing room. After all of the boys finish changing into the uniform we waited for the bus. When the bus came we were the last on the bus. After we waited for room 8 and room 5 we went on the bus. And went back to our school. After we got to school we went into our classes and waited until it was 3 pm. When it was 3pm my mum came and pick me up and my Sister and went home.

 This was the best swimming ever.

Flying kites-Levi

Yesterday room 6 made kites because some people were interested in kite making. lots of people were making their kites and other people were waiting for there turn to make a kite.

These are the materials of making a kite they are strings,plastic bag,scissors,card board,silver marker,toothpicks,sticks and tape.

First you cut the cardboard into a kite shape. Then you put the cardboard onto the plastic bag then get the silver marker and trace the cardboard to make a kite shape. And then you get the scissors and cut out the traced kite. After you cut the traced kite it should look like a kite that is in half.

After that you need to open the kite and then put it back in a little bit then get the tape to hold the folded part. Then you cut the sticks and then you measure it. After you measure it you should get the sticks and then tape it onto the bit were the taped bit is. After you do the  otherside you do the next side. You have to put the smaller sticks horizon then get the tape and tape the smaller sticks.

After that you need to get the toothpick and then turn the kite the other way then make the whole where the turning bit is. Then get heaps of string then put it through the hole. Then you get a piece of paper and fold it. Then get the string and wrap it around the paper. That’s how you make a kite. After all of us made our kites we got our bags and kites and went outside. Then we flyed our kites it was very fun after that it was hometime so all of us went.  

Maui and the Sun

                         Maui and the sun

“I am Maui a trickster and a powerful demigod of the wind and sea. And I am confident and a brave person. With a big massive magical fish hook. And I care about my people. And I am undefeated. I would make the sun go slow.

Days went on quickler and made people older and older. But one day Maui he was very grumpy at the sun because the sun made days very short. Maui had 4 brothers he said to his brothers “brothers I am very grumpy with that sun because he makes days too short. And we have no time to do stuff. So we should make the sun slower so he does not make time more faster. We will have to go to the cave of the sun.

But one of the brothers were very scared the brother said “but it will burn us”. But Maui said “we will make magical ropes by blessing it”. So the brothers went and looked for some flax in the afternoon. And when they came back with the flax it was almost night time. So they got two flax and then plated them. When they had finish plating they blessed the flax’s by saying a lotu (prayer in tongan).

When they had blessed the flax’s they went. It was very dark for them so they took a torch with them. When they were nearly there they were very hot and the ground was hot as well.while they were walking they found a pit but it was not just an ordinary pit it was the cave where the sun was. When they got there it was almost evening. So Maui told his brothers to build a tall rock wall so the sun does not see them. Just in time they finished building it. The sun was rising. When the sharp teeth of the sun rose, Maui said to his brothers to throw the ropes so they threw it and it went on perfectly. After that Maui got his magical fish hook that his grandpa carved for him and slapped the sun with his hook. When the sun had lost his strength Maui told his brothers to untangle the ropes so the brothers took the ropes of the sun went back home. Finally the sun went slower and the people could do all their chores.

My holiday recount

               My holiday recount

In the holidays,my mum made a promise to go to the movies at Saint Luke's.It was bright outside so I asked my mom and she agreed. We got to the movies before 1pm. It took us a 20min drive to the movies.I went with my family. I was excited. We went to watch despicable me 3.

When we were driving the tank was almost empty so we had to pull off at the gas station to fuel up the tank. then ready to go. It was boring while we were driving in the car so we played some music on my brothers chromebook. When got to the movies, It was 12.20 pm. Me and my brother asked my mom for money so we can play games at the arcade. Me and my brother played basketball shooting my score was 34 and my brothers score was 46. After we played at the arcade It was time to watch the movie. our seats was k1 to k10 we sat at the very back. The movie was incredibly  awesome and cool. The movie took about 1 hour and 30 mins.

When the movie had finished I asked my mom If we could go Mcdonalds because I was so hungry so she said “yes we can”. I went for a cheese burger,fries and coke.it was incredibly tasty and yummy it was the best Mcdonalds I ever tasted. After we ate my tummy was full and I was tired, so we rushed home and had a big rest.

Tapa cloth

Yesterday we went to Te Tuhi to make a tapa cloth.We  are talking about what are the symbols about.

The house represent where i live in panmure.

The flag represents the tongan flag.

The family represents my Dad,Mum,Sister,Me.
The rugby ball represents playing sports.

Tip top factory

Last friday the whole kia toa syndicate went to the tip top factory.My mum kathy help for the supervising over the kids. We went their because we were learning about nutrients and food.their was a tour guide that showed us around the ice cream factory she showed us around the tip top factory. When the syndicate hopped off the bus we saw a playground mrs sharma (the syndicate leader) let us play on the playground till it was our turn to look around the tip top factory. After we played on the playground mrs sharma told us to come because it was our turn to look around the tip top factory. When we went up the stairs we saw a tip top house we went into the tip top house so we can wait for the tour guide. After we Waited the tour guide came into the tip top house.After she came into the tip top house we walk and saw a old tip top car. After we saw the old tip top car we went inside the tip top factory when we got upstairs we went to a place with heaps of buttons we press them but nothing happens.after we went to the place with heaps of buttons we saw 2 people working in the factory some of the old ice cream was feed to the pigs.after we saw 2 people working we went to this place with people working as well after that we went to a place with heaps of bin that smell like ice cream.After we smell the flavours inside the bins we went into this place with ice cream and a big screen we had ice cream and we watch a movie.After the movie finished it was time to go back to school.After we got to school we brainstorm the things we saw at the tip top factory.

Te tuhi

Yesterday room 6 went to te tuhi it was at pakuranga.It had lot’s of art made by famous artist that live in new zealand.We made tapa cloths at Te Tuhi.The tongan tapa cloth is called Ngatu.And the samoan tapa cloth is called siapo.the fijian tapa cloth is called masi.Their was a person who was our tour guide her name was salome her culture is tongan and samoan she is very good artist.First we went to the art place to do our tapa cloths when we went inside the art place we were wearing black coats so the paint does not go on our uniform.Salome showed us some of the tapa cloths that were made in the pacific islands.Salome put one tapa cloth on each table.We touched the tapa cloth our tapa cloth was soft and it had black dye on the back it was made in samoa.after we touch it we swapped tapa cloths with other tapa cloths.Then we touch the tapa cloths that we swapped it felt hard.The tapa cloth was orange we saw that we could see some brown and black dye. this tapa cloth was made in tonga.After we touch the tapa cloths we went to do a tapa cloth.first get a piece of paper then scrunch it up then open the scrunched paper then colour the 2 squares with a brown crayon smoothly then colour the background with a brown crayon then draw your pictures about your culture with a art pencil.Then paint the other 2 squares with the black dye.After that you let it dry after we done the art we went to look at the art that were made by famous artist.after that it was time to go back to school.
